Yes. 1974 seems right. I remember because I was married at the time and distinctly remember getting the call from Jerry Renaud.

I remember coming back to town and visiting Kirby's mom after his death.  I thought it was after I came back from USAFA in early 1972, but if it was 1974, it must have been when I came back from another trip.
