Paula J. (Voelker) Kort, 64, a lifelong resident of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, November 12, after successfully battling cancer for more than two decades. Paula was born April 29, 1953, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Anthony J. and Margaret 'Ruth' (Warren) Voelker. She graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln and the Lincoln School of Commerce program for court reporters. Paula was a state and federal court reporter for over 20 years. Paula married Gary Kort of Ayr in 1984 and together they raised two daughters, Danielle and Jamille. Paula dearly loved her family, her friends, long walks, and her pets. She had an extremely strong passion for living a healthy lifestyle and was an avid researcher on natural healing methods. Paula is survived by her husband, Gary, and two daughters, Danielle Kort of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and Jamille Kort of Williams, Oregon; brother, Tom Voelker of Lincoln; three sisters, Marcia Voelker (Dale Morgan) of Crescent City, Calif., Laura (Matt) Kushner of St. Paul, Minn., and Barbara (Bruce) Liesveld of Lincoln; one aunt and uncle from Tennessee, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and beloved pets. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Ruth Voelker, brother, Stephen Voelker, grandparents, many aunts and uncles. Come celebrate Paula on December 2 at Glacial Till Winery, 344 S. 2nd Rd., Palmyra.
